WHAT TO BRING
Common sense prevails at Soaring Camp. You’ll need:
Clothing appropriate to the variety of weather conditions in Vermont in midsummer. Hot days and cool nights require a good mix of clothing. We suggest layers.
Hiking type clothes, swimming gear, rain jacket, sunblock, water bottle, closed toe flying shoes (we don’t fly in open toe sandals here), and a pair of waterproof shoes or boots for dew-soaked mornings or rainy days.
Hat and sunglasses for dealing with the bright sunlight in the glider and on the ground (we suggest 100% UVA/B, non-polarized sunglasses. They don’t have to be expensive, but look for the UV protection label as less than 100% protection can cause injury to the eyes).
Camping gear: Tent (we have some loaners available if needed; please let us know in advance), tarp for under the tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow, etc.
A headlamp or flashlight for walking between the tent and tower building at night.
Towel, toiletries and personal effects for a 6-night camp out. Campers shower in the tower building.
Medications. Please make sure you have informed our staff of all medical issues or needs.
A waterproof bag or box for your logbook and other valuables.
A log book, if you have one. Logbooks may be purchased in the office for $12.00.
A pilot certificate (student or private) if you have one.
A government-issued photo ID (such as driver’s permit, license, or passport) ONLY for campers who wish to solo.
If you are into RC Airplanes, you may bring yours along. There is opportunity to fly it after airport operations close each day.
Due to wildlife activity, campers must not keep food in their tents. If you have food that you want to bring we will store it in the kitchen.
A great attitude, a sense of adventure and a willingness to be open to all that you will experience at camp!
